Steve Vatter - PGA Head Professional

Steve is entering his 16th year at Capital Hills in 2016. Previously, Steve was the assistant golf professional at Albany Country Club for five seasons. Steve became a Class A Member of the PGA of America in 1997. Golf has been a passion of his since he was six years old. Steve has had success in local, state and national golf tournaments, including: Steve enjoys teaching golf the most.  One of the main reasons Steve took the job 15 years ago is the excellent practice facility at Capital Hills. Steve firmly believes in teaching the student, and not one particular method.

Steve is married to his wife Shawna, and has two children, Jackson and Grace.

Steve is also very proud to have two assistants at the course to help with teaching demand. This year we are fortunate to have Don DeNyse III and Brian Hampson on staff.   Both possess a wealth of knowledge in the swing principles and the mental side of golf.

USGA Handicapping

Any golfer may sign up to have their official USGA Handicap kept at the Golf Shop.  A computer terminal in the shop gives golfers the ability to post their scores to the internationally recognized USGA GHIN system.  By signing up at the Golf Shop, a golfer will receive a USGA GHIN number which will allow them to post scores directly from any golf shop which is connected to the system.  Handicaps are updated every two weeks by the USGA.  Players’ handicaps can also be accessed through ghin.com.  The 2016 fee for annual membership is $22 per player.
